Tomato rasam is an easy dinner dish for South Indian people, especially for Keralites. Preparing tomato rasam recipe is actually my hobby. My family members are tomato rasam lovers! As it is very easy and simple to cook this rasam with tomatoes, I am very interested in tomato rasam making. While remembering the healthy benefits of the tomato/thakkali rasam, it is obviously good to make rasam for meal. There are variety rasam recipes to prepare. But the red, ripened tomatoes add more taste to the rasam by its sourness. Don't use many tomatoes when you use tamarind in the preparation of tomato rasam. You can also add pepper powder, garlic...besides the puffy tomatoes for make the rasam spicy.
Rasam dish is a popular recipe among the South Indians like People of Kerala, Andhra, Tamil Nadu....I prepared the spicy rasam with number of tomatoes for rice. In this post I am trying to give you the idea for rasam preparation in some simple steps in Kerala style, without dhal. It is an instant recipe for your dinner or lunch which can help you in your busy life.
Ingredients to prepare Easy Tomato Rasam Recipe:
- Medium Sized Tomatoes- 2-3 nos
- Garlic- 4-6 nos
- Coriander leaf (chopped)- A handful
- Water- 2 cups
- Pepper powder- 1/2 teaspoon
- Instant rasam powder- 2-3 table spoons
- Salt- to taste
- Coconut oil- 2 table spoons
- Mustard seeds, Curry leaves, red chilies- to splutter
How to Make tomato Rasam in a Simple way:
- Boil water
- Add rasam powder, salt, pepper powder, chopped/ cut tomatoes and crushed garlic into the water.
- Boil again and stir till the tomatoes become well cooked and soft.
- Keep the rasam aside; add the chopped coriander leaves into the hot rasam.
- Splutter the mustard, curry leaves and red chilies in the coconut oil and pour it into the good smelled, golden brown rasam.
- Serve the spicy and yummy rasam with your lunch or dinner.
