Coconut tree is useful in aspects. It has a life span of 120 years. People depend on it for the tasty fruit coconut to make different coconut recipes with coconut paste, coconut milk, coconut oil, coconut water and tender coconut.
We all use them in our kitchen. But we have no idea about the entire health benefits of coconut. So I decided to share some ideas on the advantages of it and why we use it in our dishes.
Coconut was originated in Malaya.
In coconut production Indonesia is at first rank.

- Protein- 45 g
- Vitamin B 3- 8 mg
- Vitamin C- 17 mg

Coconut Flesh/ White part of Coconut Fruit:
In my area the tasty coconut flesh use in many curries like fish curry, Chicken dishes, egg recipes and many veg recipes.
This flesh contains various enzymes like Lignin, Investin, Oxydase, Catalase, Monitol, Albumin, Tartaric acid.
Coconut has good amount of fat but less carbohydrate.
Protein in it helps you to get better health.
Grated and ground paste of coconut adds more taste to the curries.
If you use the coconut in a paste form you can absorb entire nutrients of it.
Coconut Milk:
It is protein rich.
Milk of coconut contains an amount of sugars.
Fat content is not less, but not in danger amount.
Coconut milk acts as a better tonic for children and old men.
You can use it to beautify your skin by rubbing it on it. Its consumption would also do this purpose on your skin.
In many Kerala recipes coconut milk is a common component like fish curry with coconut milk, potato stew, Olan....
You can also use it in many Payasam dishes also like Parippu Payasam, Ilaneer payasam....
Coconut Oil:
It is one derived form from dried coconut (Kopra).
Coconut oil can use in many recipes. There is a controversy about its healthy affect. But recent studies proved that coconut oil is healthy.
Ayurveda stands with its merits.
It brightens your brain.
It used to cure infections in intestine, plague and viral attack....
Lauric acid in this oil will help you to remove the obstructions in the blood vessels those lead to the heart.
Coconut milk has equivalent nutritional value to breast milk.
Tender Coconut:
It is a tasty immature form of coconut.
Tender coconut water is a remedy for many diseases like diabetics. It is good for small kids.
Its soft flesh can use for making homemade ice cream, payasam recipes...
In Ayurveda it is using as a component for many medicines.
Coconut water:
Water inside the endosperm (white coconut flesh) is coconut water which is transparent.
It used in culinary and medicinal purposes.
It would use to make payasams, fresh health drinks.....
It helps to blood production.
It is rich in nutrients and minerals.
It helps to oral re hydration.
Coconut water enhances the digestion in children.
It helps to weight loss management.
It cools your body in summer.
It reduces thirst.
It can be used as a moisturizer if you have a dry skin.
It can remove the pimples on your face if you wash your face with it.
Coconut water increases the growth rate due to some organic substances in it.
It can be cure chicken pox, smallpox....
It is effective against intestinal worms.
It is a good medicine for kidney patients.
It is good for kidney stone.
